A Look at the Calendar
Let’s face it. We’re all grown-ups now. Sometimes we have to do things we’d just as soon skip.
I’ve heard it said that our perceptions of events are shaped by our attitudes going into the events. In other words, your attitude is the lens through which you see life.
As you look at the calendar, you may be dreading the office Christmas party where you’ll have to explain why your husband or wife isn’t with you this year. You may be wondering what you’ll say to your relative who keeps trying to cheer you up but always says the wrong thing.
Rather than spending time anticipating the worst, try to think about how you might be able to have a positive impact on those with whom you come in contact.
Helping others is often the best medicine we can take. If you ask God to guide you in this—if you sincerely ask Him to help you see others through his eyes—you’ll be surprised by the results.
For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through the endurance taught in the Scriptures and the encouragement they provide we might have hope. May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you the same attitude of mind toward each other that Christ Jesus had. (Romans 15:4–5)
