Taking Care of Yourself
It is important to take care of yourself as you navigate your divorce. There are so many details to give attention to (finances, children, lawyers, schedules, etc.) that you may tend to put yourself at the bottom of the list.
Emotional and physical stress can lead to many unhealthy issues if not properly addressed. Allow yourself to enjoy a hobby you have pushed aside. You may want to go to a movie with a friend, take a walk in the park, read a book, take a bubble bath, or perhaps enjoy a round of golf. Whatever you choose, do something you enjoy—even if it’s just for an hour!
Make it a habit each day and every week to take some time and focus on your own personal health. Eating well, getting proper rest, and exercising regularly are vital to thinking clearly and dealing with stress. If you are not healthy, you won’t be helpful to anyone else, including yourself.
