Productive Time with God

In our busy world of email, Facebook, smartphones, and Netflix we are constantly bombarded with messages.

I am still amazed that I can send an email, pay my bills, and check the score of the ball game all while I am sitting in the waiting room of my doctor’s office.

Not many moments go by when I am not thinking about the next item on my list of things to do. At some point though, I realized how cluttered my life had become with things that do little to refresh me.

It is easy to push God aside when life gets a little crazy. Don’t forget that in the middle of all the hustle and bustle of the holidays, we must still take time out from our busy days to be with God.

Time alone with him is essential to recharge us and is the only way we can truly heal. God commands us to be still, to rest, and to make time for him. It is at these moments that we can really hear God’s words and receive his comfort.

Be still and know that I am God. (Psalm 46:10)

Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. (Matthew 11:28)
